Strikes were banned, but companies in the Department of the Seine did experience a number of small-scale strikes. The authorities attempted to prevent news of these strikes from spreading. The strikes centered primarily on demands for higher wages and improved working conditions. They are known today because of the daily reports of the General Information services of the police.
